Education
The Twaweza Program reaches out to schools across East Africa to educate the students on topics such as puberty, reproductive anatomy, sexual health, body hygiene, menstruation, and menstrual management. The goal of the education part of the program is to make African women more confident about the management of their bodies, especially during menstruation. Ultimately, if these African women are more confident in their abilities to manage their body, they will be able to attend school more often.
Distribution
The Twaweza Program not only gives African women the knowledge required to take care of their bodies. Through donations "femme kits" are created for each African woman participating in the program. Each femme kit includes a bar of soap, a small towel, a steel bowl to boil and sterilize a menstrual cup or washable pads, and a Twaweza workbook.
